Hello Web (with reservations)

Are we really doing this?

Hello there, and welcome to my petit corner of the web! After quite a bit of hesitation and procrastinkering with CSS and other sidequests, I’m uncomfortably excited to finally launch this personal blog as a place for shared learning and exploration. It does feel odd to start a personal blog as I’ve always preferred more self-effacing angles, but I’m intrigued by the journey ahead.

All About that edge!

So, as a Product Manager, I’m naturally inclined to ask the “Why?” question. More specifically, “Why now?”. While updates might not always be frequent, this blog stems from a deep conviction: there’s a profound need for learning, reflection, and experimentation when it comes to applying AI capabilities in a helpful manner on the web. For me, this is an opportunity to actively participate in that discovery process – to learn from what others are building, reflect on the challenges, and ultimately, to make me a better product manager for Web AI, so I can better help you, the developers.

Applying AI without artifice

My journey in tech has given me a unique perspective on developer needs. For years, I was a Product Manager for performance-related APIs. With performance, the “why” is often clear: it’s well established that speed matters, and that improving it typically pushes metrics up and to the right, almost universally benefiting users and businesses. But with AI, it’s different. AI capabilities aren’t features in themselves; they’re tools to achieve something new or previously too hard. The challenge isn’t just applying AI, but ensuring what one does with it genuinely benefits users and businesses. Unlike performance APIs, AI is not a simple vector of improvement. This complexity and the opportunity for impactful innovation is precisely why I’m so compelled to explore this space.

A Glimpse into the Backlog

Curious about what’s coming up? Here’s a look at what this blog intends to cover:

  • Hands-on project learnings – exploring how AI capabilities can be effectively integrated into web experiences.
  • Deep dives into technical and UX patterns for building truly helpful AI-powered web applications.
  • Reflections on product management strategies for identifying and solving real user problems with AI.
  • Thoughts on emerging tech trends in Web AI, always with an eye towards practical utility.
  • And occasionally, a peek into the hobbies that keep my mind active and creative.

WebAI is what we make of it!

Whether you’re building with Web AI, navigating its complexities as a PM, or just looking to learn alongside a fellow tech enthusiast, I’m genuinely glad you’re here. My hope is that this space is just a part of something bigger formed by our collective understanding of how to make #WebAI genuinely helpful.
